E.L.F. Beauty Books
I was going to do a video on these products but, unfortunately, I didn't have very much to say. These are the ELF Beauty Books and they can be found in 3 different varieties (bright eye, smokey, neutral) and they are $5.00 at Target.
Because I had just purchased my Urban Decay Naked Palette, I decided to skip out on the neutral one. These palettes are exclusive back to school items that are only being sold at target.
I'll start with the Eye's Bright Palette (the purple one).
There are 12 colors in each palette. And although it seems like a really great deal, you really do get what you pay for. Each of these shadows had a lot of fall out and they are all very chalky. Although the colors look like they'd be gorgeous on, the color payoff is not that great and the fall out is super hard to work with.
Here are the colors swatched:
You can tell by the photos how much fall out there is. Now, to be fair, if you are really patient and have quite a bit of time on your hands, you could probably make these work. And for $5.00, you could make the most out of them but, I just don't think that I have enough patience.
The next book is the Smokey palette (the black one):
It seemed to me like these colors were a bit better as far as chalkiness and there was more pigmentation and they were a bit easier to see on my skin tone. The colors in this palette reminded me more of a neutral palette than a smokey eye palette but, nonetheless they were still pretty colors.
Final Verdict:
I think that the colors in these palettes are great and the idea behind them are great, but like I said before, you really do get what you pay for. I really do like ELF brand and I have a ton of items from them that I can't live without (concealer, hypershine glosses, and lip shine's), but I really don't think their eyeshadows are their best.
Happy Swatching!
Hugs and Love,
Edith
