ELF Contouring Blush & Bronzer:
Yesterday as I was strolling through Target getting a few things I needed, I came across the ever growing ELF section. I stopped by to look (and pick up another package of my favorite make up remover wipes) and saw the ELF Contouring Blush & Bronzer Powder. Although I was unable to open it and actually see the colors, I went by what the packaging said and figured that for $3.00 i'd give it a shot. Besides, a girl can never have too much blush!
The ELF contouring blush & bronzer powder is sold at Target stores nationwide and also on the ELF website. ELF is known for their very inexpensive products and variety they offer.
It retails for $3.00 (as it is part of ELF's Studio Line) and comes with .28 oz/8 grams of product.
As soon as I opened the ELF compact I was stunned to see how much it looked like my all time favorite blush/bronzer duo, the NARS Laguna/Orgasm blush and bronzer.
The NARS Orgasm/Laguna blush and bronzer (my ultimate favorite) can be found at high end department stores, NARS makeup counters, NARS' website, Sephora stores and Sephora online, and etc.
It comes with a much bigger price tag at $39.00 and comes with 0.35 oz/ 10 grams of product.
The packaging of both these products is nearly identical with the exception that the NARS packaging is no where near as flimsy and the mirror in the ELF case is loose. :-(
Next to each other, you can see quite a bit of difference in each of the products. The NARS blush and bronzer have more micro-shimmer in them and the colors look way more vibrant in the pan than the ELF ones do.
The ELF blush and bronzer look very matte and appear to be much lighter in color than the NARS colors.
The first thing I did was swatch the NARS colors... and I was kind of shocked when I saw how they kind of lacked in pigmentation. Although very, very pretty, It was obvious to me why I have almost hit pan on both after only having had them a couple of months.
I think I might have let the hype get to me on this one... I do love it and I will probably re-purchase but I just couldn't believe how little color payoff it gave.
Unlike the NARS duo, the ELF duo was HIGHLY pigmented and the color payoff was amazing! There was no where near as much micro-glitter as there is in the NARS duo.
The ELF duo was just as smooth as the NARS duo and looks beautiful on the skin.
Although the colors of each duo were slightly different, they are very comparable and the ELF duo is a great and inexpensive option for those who are interested in the NARS Orgasm/Laguna Duo.
Final Verdict:
The difference of product is not as great as I'd like to see in two products with such a huge price difference. Like I said before, I know for a fact that i'm going to repurchase the NARS duo but, I am not ruling out the ELF one. It's a great product and would really recommend it to those who are looking for a money saving alternative.
What do you guys think? Pretty close?
Hugs and Love,
Edith
